Upcoming Fun Events

Bently Field TripIn early November, Carson City Rotarians will take a field trip to a new distillery, recently opened by Bently Heritage in downtown Minden, NV. The remodeled facility has been built inside an antique grain silo, and features tasty vodka, gin and whisky products made from local resources.

The whisky is currently being aged "in the grand old tradition," so Rotarians won't be getting to taste that, but they will get a chance to taste the award-winning Juniper Grove brand of gin and the Source One vodka.

They will get a first-hand, up-close look at the process used to make the Bently Heritage Vodka distilled from oats and wheat grown on their ranch in Minden and rested in Oloroso sherry oak casks. All the liquors are produced in small batches and finished in copper-pot stills on the premises.

The founders and proprietors are Christopher and Camille Bently. Jason Tollman is the general manager and John Jeffery is the master distiller.

Recent Projects

Carson Rotarians are always working on projects - building hiking trails, cleaning up trashy sites and even planting flowers. And it looks a lot better when they get finished!

Recent Grants

Working with the Carson City Rotary's Foundation, major grants are awarded to organizations that serve our local community, including the School District, the city's parks department and the city transportation needs. Our most recent recipient was Western Nevada College's Library, where the Club sponsored group study rooms.

HOW WE RAISE OUR FUNDS

Since its inception as a Beer and Pizza Night at the Carson Mall about four years ago, the Capital City Brewfest has become the Rotary Club of Carson City's primary fundraising event. The most recent Brewfest was held on Curry Street downtown, and attracted over 1,000 beer drinkers, 25 craft breweries and four food trucks. While tasting all the different types of beer, our guests were entertained by Belle Sounds on the McFadden Plaza Stage, leading up to the opening night of the Leavitt Amp Summer Concerts Series over at the Brewery Arts Center.

The next Brewfest will be on June 20, 2020 in the same location, with local blues musicians from Mo'z Motley Blues Band on stage and an expanded area full of breweries from the Reno-Tahoe-Carson City region, pouring the finest ice-cold amber liquids. Some sponsorships are still available as we invite the community to join us in raising money for scholarships and other great local causes.

Youth Programs Abound
Carson Rotarians are well-known for their support for the Rotary foreign exchange programs as well as leadership training for high school and middle school students in our city. We also actively support the school district's music education program that features school orchestras and bands at the middle school and high school levels.
