Past District Governor Steve Lewis spoke to the club about the Rotary Club of Carson City Foundation. The Foundation is managed by twelve members of the local Rotary club. The Foundation is committed to fostering education. It provides an annual $18,000 Scholarsteps program to persons in need of life changing education. The awards are eligible to individuals accepted into a four year college program or a two year technical program. Each year the Foundation also provides $4,000 to send four high school students to a week long leadership camp, and $5,900 to support 300 eighth grader students in a shorter program. Past projects have included a significant donation to help fund the Carson Tahoe Health Cancer Center, and placement of the beautiful pedestal clock that is a landmark in front of the entrance of Nevada State Legislative Building. The Rotary Club of Carson City Foundation is funded by Rotarians and the general public who wish to make a difference in our community.
